This week was our first week of classes. I have 3 classes in addition to 2 classes of German language. I have German class Monday through Thursday 9am-12pm. On Monday evening I have German cinema class and on Tuesday I have a full day, German followed by Islam in Europe and then European Integration, Security and Conflict. It seems like I will have a lot of reading, but other than that all of my classes seem pretty interesting.
Every Thursday we go on excursions around the city with our German class. Tomorrow we are going to Humboldt University which is the University in the East that used to be the University of Berlin. I'm not sure what we are doing there, but I think we are going on a scavenger hunt of some sort.
Since I last wrote, I've just been settling into my apartment and trying to get on a daily schedule. Saturday night we went out and we had an early night by Berlin standards, we got in at 5am. Most clubs and bars stay open until 6 or 8am, but we aren't really used to that. Sunday we tried to see a movie, but the movies that were out were ones that we have all seen at home. Maybe in a few months we'll get the new movies that are out at home now.
Sunday night we explored one of the neighborhoods in the east, and we found some interesting cafes and bars. For lunch yesterday, I had my first Döner which is at Turkish sandwich.. it was so good and it is really cheap. We are going to go there at least once a week for lunch since it is close to school. Today I had lunch at the Mensa which is the dining hall at the FU. Everytime I go there I feel like a little lost freshman. I never know exactly what I'm eating, and I am always bumping into some frantic German students. However, the food is really good and it is really cheap.
I have been busy with school this week so I haven't really done too much, but I mainly wanted to post some pictures... I will be getting internet in my apartment in 2 weeks, but until then I'm stuck with trying to use the internet at school and at the mall near my house.
miss you all!
